Being a homemaker, never seemed to be interesting until 2020 arrived. I discovered different aspects of myself that gave me a new identity.

The worried first minute

11:45 PM of 31.12.2019, my mobile rings, it was my husband from his workplace. After conversing a little, we share our New year wishes,

He: Hey it's 12, Happy New year Darla!

Me: Happy 2020 appa! (Sad tone.)

He: Why do you sound worried?

Me: I am afraid to face this year appa!

He: Why Darla?

Me: Look at us! We are staying away from each other at the beginning of this year. I wonder what more horrible moments this year has for us.

He: No worries Darla, everything will be fine. Stay positive!

Me: Hoping the same! (though not convinced)

We hung up the call after a while.

Pictures and the voice

After 3 long years, I woke up at 6 AM and formulated a new productive routine that included 8 hours of undisturbed sleep. Being a homemaker, I had enough time after my household chores and I chose to pursue my long-time wish of food blogging through Instagram.

My IG handle, From_my_cookroom, paved an opportuning to discover my photography skills and learn a few editing software. But was later sick of it and took a break from food blogging.

I also revamped my Instagram profile that I started for writing quotes, succeeded in being a Freelance RJ in Voxit, also started a podcast titled, The BIG FISH by HEMA. This brought me a new identity, paved me an opportunity to express my thoughts, interact with new people, and a lot more positive perspective of life.

Surprise factor

By mid-March, the first wave of COVID 19 was spreading across nations and the first lockdown began. The year started with the worry of being away but the quarantine gifted me more loving hours with my hubby, my kids enjoyed his presence at home.

Not to miss out, I prioritized my mental health and me-time over the others!

The yield

I no more have the feeling of being a homemaker. 2020 honored me with an interesting schedule.

Quarantine is not new to any homemaker, yet quarantine 2020 gave me wings to fly, discover my wingspan and courage. Our thoughts are our limits, not the walls of our homes.

Never judge your future for one bad day you faced. Our life is filled with miracles, just stop predicting and enjoy the moment.
